Wasze wspomnienia, kondolencje i myśli o zmarłych
I would like to join my colleagues in expressing my sorrow at the passing of our beloved teacher, Ms. Felicja Mike, and in expressing my condolences to her bereaved family. My deepest sympathies go the Mike family. May God give you the peace that you seek. May my condolences bring you comfort and ease the pain of your loss. I offer you my thoughts and well-wishes during this difficult time in your life.
I will always remember Ms. Mike fondly, although I was under her tutelage only 3 of the 5 years enjoyed by the others. Nevertheless, I recall her as a wonderful teacher and role model. She passed on her love of literature which has stayed with me all these years and imbued me with a lasting love of the written language. She was a model of a strong woman, of someone who commanded respect by her example, strength, and ability.
My wife and I had a rare pleasure to see her one more time, in 1985, twenty years after my family emigrated to the USA, where I continued my education, building on the wonderful education I received at the Technikum Budowy Okrętów, both practical and theoretical. I was honored by her remembering me. The memory of her always loomed large in my mind; I often wondered if she would be proud of my accomplishments. When I attained the rank of Fellow of the American Physical Society, she was the first person in Poland I hastened to inform. Likewise, I am sure she must have been proud of the many hundreds, if not thousands, of students she has guided over several decades in their scholastic, professional, and personal lives.
The best homage I can give our beloved teacher is to say that her life mattered to so many of us. She shaped generations of young men and women. We continue to honor her memory and carry on the torch she has lit.
Cześć jej pamięci.
